What gives Midjourney away

Midjourney images rarely carry a signed record of where they came from, so the picture usually has to speak for itself. Our image model is tested on Midjourney 5.2 images and on photos from today's phones.

Our verdict says whether a picture looks AI-made. It doesn't name the generator unless the file itself says which tool made it.

Things to check yourself

Look at hands, teeth and text, at reflections that don't match, at details that repeat, and at a painterly finish on something that should be a photo. A reverse image search often finds where an image first appeared.
