Proof, when the file has it
OpenAI's Sora and Runway sign the videos they make with Content Credentials, and so do most of Google's Veo files in our tests. If the file still carries that signature, we show it as proof, with who signed it. Chinese AI video services such as Kling, Vidu, Wan and Hailuo must label what they make, and we read those labels too.
Downloads from social apps usually lose these records, so for most links the picture itself has to do the work.
Two models look at the picture
One model (cakelens, open source) looks at how the video moves across frames. Another (Community Forensics, open source) looks at single frames for the traces generators leave. Their scores are combined and calibrated on our own test set of real and AI clips, so a real phone video rarely reads as AI.
Every moment of the video gets a score on the same scale as the verdict, so the timeline shows where it looks most generated.
Where it struggles
Re-uploads, screen recordings, small or very dark videos and heavy compression weaken the signal. The newest video models are the hardest. Face swaps and lip-sync on real footage can slip through. When the evidence is mixed we say Inconclusive.

Can it tell if a video was made with Sora or Veo?
When the file still has its Content Credentials, yes, and we show who signed it. Without them we judge from the picture, and the result says which of the two it rests on.
