Facebook AI checker

Is this Facebook video real or AI?

Paste the link to a public Facebook video and check it. We fetch the video, read any AI label the file still has, and let two AI models look at the picture.

What a Facebook link can tell us

If the file still carries a signed record from the tool that made it, we check the signature and show it as proof, naming the signer. A download or a re-upload usually strips that record, so for most Facebook videos the picture does the work.

Platforms put their own AI labels on some posts, so look for one on the post itself. Many AI videos still go unlabeled.

What the picture shows

Two open-source models share the work: cakelens follows how the video moves from frame to frame, and Community Forensics reads single frames for the traces generators leave. We calibrate the combined score on our own set of real and AI clips, with the cut-offs set so that real phone footage rarely comes back as AI.

The timeline under the verdict marks the moments that look most generated. Where the evidence is mixed, the verdict says Inconclusive rather than picking a side.

Where it struggles

By the time a clip reaches a group or a page it has usually been posted and downloaded again, and each of those steps strips detail and weakens the signal. Screen recordings, small or very dark videos and heavy compression do the same, and the newest video models are the hardest.

So check the page as well: AI accounts often post the same kind of clip many times a day, and if something big happened, someone else filmed it too. A low score means no sign of AI turned up, not that nothing was changed.

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly.

Something else? hello@findtheai.app

Do I need a Facebook account?

No. Paste the link of a public video and we fetch it, check it, then delete our copy. A private, removed or region-locked video cannot be fetched: download it and upload the file instead.

Can it check a Facebook photo post?

Not from the link: links are fetched as video. Save the photo and upload it, and the image model checks it.

Which Facebook links work?

Links to public videos on facebook.com, including share links on fb.watch. Anything that is not a video has to be uploaded as a file.

How accurate is it?

Our test results page lists every generator we test and how often real videos come back as AI. A Facebook re-upload is not one of those clean files, so weigh the verdict with the rest of the evidence. See the test results
