Find the AI Daily: can you spot the fakes?
Find the AI

X and Twitter AI checker

Is this X video real or AI?

Paste the link to a public video on X or Twitter and check it. We fetch the video and let two AI models look at the picture, since X strips the file's own records when it re-hosts a clip.

Why the picture does the work here

X re-encodes videos when it hosts them and does not keep the original file's records, so a signed Content Credentials record is usually gone by the time a clip lands on the platform. For most X videos the picture does the work, and we say so rather than pretend the metadata is there.

A fake on X travels as a quote-post with no context, and that is exactly when people search the question. If the original account posted the clip with a source, check that too.

What the picture shows

Two open-source models share the work: cakelens follows how the video moves from frame to frame, and Community Forensics reads single frames for the traces generators leave. We calibrate the combined score on our own set of real and AI clips, with cut-offs set so real phone footage rarely comes back as AI.

The timeline under the verdict marks the moments that look most generated. Where the evidence is mixed, the verdict says Inconclusive rather than picking a side.

Where it struggles

A clip that has been reposted and re-encoded across platforms loses detail with each step, which weakens the signal. Screen recordings, small or very dark videos, and heavy compression do the same, and the newest video models are the hardest to catch.

A low score means no sign of AI turned up, not that nothing was changed. If the same account posts many clips of the same kind in a day, that is worth noting on its own.

Something else? hello@findtheai.app

Do I need an X account?

No. Paste the link to a public video on x.com or twitter.com and we fetch it, check it, then delete our copy. A private or region-locked video cannot be fetched: download it and upload the file instead.

Does it work on a tweet with a linked video?

Yes, when the video is hosted on X or Twitter. If the tweet links out to a video on another site, paste that site's link instead.

How accurate is it?

Our test results page lists every generator we test and how often real videos come back as AI. A re-uploaded X clip is not one of those clean files, so weigh the verdict with the rest of the evidence. See the test results
